Aistear Introduction for Teachers

Aistear is the early childhood curriculum framework recommended for the infant classroom’s teaching methodologies. It is centered in a play-based and child-led play approach or methodology. It is there to help the infant teacher understand how play-based methodology/framework can enhance the child’s leaning in the early years.

This is the first of four workshops and during this workshop teachers will:

  • Be provided with an overview of Aistear.
  • Become familiar with the content of the Aistear manual and the online toolkit.
  • Look at how Aistear can support the Primary School Curriculum.
  • Be given guidelines on using the Aistear approach during the hour of child-led play/and using playful activities throughout the day.
