Master’s Degree Students from Monaghan Education Centre graduate in the Waterfront Hall

Padraic Martin, Catherine Dempsey and Colum Hammond are photographed alongside their tutor, Dr Sam McGuinness just before graduating with the degree of Master’s in Education in the Waterfront Hall on Thursday 30th July 2011.
Their class began the journey some three years ago with their then tutor, Gareth Parry, and completed their part-time study for the past two years, firstly with Sam, then finally with a written dissertation under a variety of tutors. Sam actually supervised Catherine whose dissertation was on ‘Invitational Leadership in a Primary School’, and also Colum who studied ‘The Role of the Teaching Principal in a Small Primary School’, for which he was awarded a distinction.
Classes in the Monaghan Education Centre are very well supported with as many as 23 in the current first year cohort and 20 in the second year group. While the specialism studied there is on Educational Leadership and Management, other Master’s students graduated in a variety of specialisms including ICT, Special Educational Needs and Contemporary Society.
